To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what proportion of individuals in receipt of legal aid were (a) under the age of 18 and (b) identified as having a physical or mental disability in the latest period for which figures are available; and how many cases in that period in respect of which such aid was granted concerned clinical negligence.

The Legal Services Commission (LSC) is able to provide this information and it is shown in the following table. Figures relate to civil representation only for the financial year 2009-10.
