To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many regulations that impose costs on businesses his Department (a) introduced and (b) removed in the six months prior to 1 September 2010; and what the net effect on the costs on businesses of such introductions and removals was.

In the six months prior to 1 September 2010 the Department introduced five sets of regulations that impose costs on business, and removed none. However, the Department also amended regulation to reduce costs to business; the net effect is a reduction of costs on business.
