To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps her Department takes to ensure public protests are carried out in a safe and peaceful manner.

The policing of protests is an operational matter for the police. The Government are committed both to ensuring that the law facilitates peaceful protests, and that the police have the powers they need to deal with any violence and disorder.
