To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the Stornoway and Lerwick based emergency towing vessels will be withdrawn in September; and, if so, what alternative arrangements have been put in place to deal with any future shipping casualties or emergencies in the northern waters of the United Kingdom.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency continues to discuss this matter with all interested parties.

An announcement about arrangements after 30 September 2011 will be made in due course.
