Following the machinery of government changes in January 2011, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) became the sole sponsor of Ofcom. Previously, DCMS shared sponsorship of Ofcom with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). When Ofcom takes responsibility for postal services from Postcomm later this year, BIS will sponsor the postal services work that Ofcom will do.
