To ask Her Majesty's Government, in response to the recommendation by the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on "descent-based discrimination" in the United Kingdom, whether they will inform the committee of the outcome of any research into caste-based discrimination.

We anticipate that the outcome of the recent research into caste-based discrimination in the United Kingdom carried out by the National Institute for Economic and Social Research will form part of the Government's evidence to the forthcoming review by the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
