The National Health Service Business Services Authority (NHS BSA) estimates that the cost of administering the prescription pre-payment, medical exemption and maternity exemption schemes was £4.6 million in 2010-11. This figure includes corporate overhead costs and is for England only.

The NHS BSA estimates that the cost of administering the NHS Low Income Scheme was £5 million in 2010-11. This figure includes corporate overhead costs and is for England, Scotland and Wales.
