To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reports his Department has received on measures taken to support and protect Christians in border regions following the independence of South Sudan.
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has a mandate to protect civilians, irrespective of their religion, in the Republic of South Sudan under imminent threat of physical violence. The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is authorized to use force in protecting civilians and humanitarian workers in Abyei.
