To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps his Department is taking to increase awareness of skin melanoma among young people.
SunSmart, the national skin cancer prevention campaign run by Cancer Research UK, raises awareness amongst the public and professionals of the risks to health from skin cancer, including melanoma. The SunSmart website
www.sunsmart.org.uk provides information and advice on prevention and early detection of skin cancer. The primary audience for this year's campaign is 16 to 24-year-olds.
In March, SunSmart also launched a digital campaign entitled ‘Leatha Face’ to raise awareness amongst young people of the skin cancer risks posed by sunbeds. In addition, the Department has published guidance on the implementation of the Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, which came into force on
