To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to the answer of 23 May 2011, Official Report, column 360W, on taxation: offshore industry, if he will request the Office for National Statistics to determine whether the Energy Company Obligation is to be considered levy-funded spending before the Energy Bill [Lords] is considered in Public Bill Committee.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has not yet considered the classification of the proposed Energy Company Obligation. Final classification decisions would be issued by ONS after the policy is announced by the Government.
