To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will review periodically (a) the number of schools offering GCSE religious education and (b) the humanities element of the English Baccalaureate.

We will continue to monitor all subjects being taught by all teachers in maintained secondary schools through the School Workforce Census. This information is collected annually, and is published in spring each year. We will also be examining trends in GCSE entries.
