To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what proportion of the food production industry is comprised of small and medium-sized enterprises.
Small and medium enterprises are those where the number of employees is between 0 and 249.
As a percentage of the total number of enterprises in the manufacture of food products and beverages sector, 98% are small and medium enterprises.
Based upon turnover of the manufacture of food products and beverages sector, 26% are small and medium enterprises.
