To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will appoint a national clinical director for allied health professionals with responsibilities equivalent to those of the Director of Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer.

The Health and Social Care Bill published on 19 January 2011 sets out details about the membership of the NHS Commissioning Board. We are using the natural break in the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill to pause, listen, reflect on, and improve national health service modernisation plans.

The Board itself will determine its own appointments but will include people with a range of skills and experience.
