To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions if he will estimate the cost to the Exchequer of exempting from the total household benefit cap couples with dependent children who would not be affected by the benefit cap if they lived in separate households in each of the next five financial years.

The information requested is not available. We would have to make complex assumptions about housing costs, caring responsibilities and family composition of a couple living apart in order to estimate the cost to the Exchequer.
