To ask the Secretary of State for Defence

(1) how many Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems his Department (a) plans to install and (b) has installed on the GR4 Tornado;

(2) if he will estimate the cost to the public purse of installing the Helmet Mounted Cueing System on the GR4 Tornado.

I am withholding information about the fitting of a Helmet Mounted Cueing System (HMCS) to Tornado GR4 aircraft as its disclosure would, or would be likely to prejudice the capability, effectiveness or security of the armed forces. The cost of the Tornado GR4 HMCS programme is just over £11 million.
