To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to the answer of 25 October 2010, Official Report, column 127W, on radiotherapy, for what reason the national radiotherapy dataset was not published as proposed in April 2011; and when his Department expects to publish the dataset.

Release of the radiotherapy dataset is governed by the Radiotherapy Clinical Information Group (RCIG). The RCIG has decided to produce a report on the dataset collection for 2009-10, which is due for publication in June.

The RCIG is also planning to release the full dataset via the cancer commissioning toolkit (CCT) by the end of year. The CCT gives commissioners access to high quality data about cancer services across the treatment pathway and allows trusts to benchmark their performance against one another.
