To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions what assessment he has made of any change in the (a) number and (b) value of rent arrears in the private rented sector since the introduction of direct payment of housing benefit to tenants.

The Department published its assessment of the impact of direct payment of housing benefit to tenants in its Two Year Review of the operation of the local housing allowance. This report was published on 10 February and a copy is available in the House of Commons Library.
