Treasury written question – answered at on 11 May 2011.
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any tax incentives exist for the export of gas direct from source.
There are no tax incentives in the UK oil and gas tax regime that incentivise the export of gas from the UK Continental Shelf over domestic consumption. Companies make decisions on whether to import or export gas based on commercial factors, such as transportation costs and local market prices.
