The joint Foreign and Commonwealth Office/Department for International Development Written Ministerial Statement of 9 December 2010 (Hansard, cols. 40WS-41WS) detailed the milestones that would need to be met before elections could take place. The UK Government will be able to set a date for the elections only when the milestones have been reached. We hope that this will happen in time for elections to take place in 2012.
