To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will request that the Prime Minister attend the High Level UN Summit on Non-communicable Diseases on 19 to 20 September 2011.

As with all United Nations General Assembly meetings, we will be deciding closer to the time how best to represent United Kingdom interests at the United Nations High Level meeting on non-communicable diseases. The decision on attendance will certainly take into account the importance the UK Government place on tackling the burden of non-communicable disease domestically and globally, as well as the need for efficient use of taxpayers' money in funding overseas trips.
