To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to allow Hackney carriage style taxis to allow more than one fare-paying passenger at one time.

The legislation already allows licensed taxi drivers to carry passengers at separate fares in certain circumstances; for example, where the licensing authority has set up a taxi sharing scheme or where the taxi owner has registered a local bus service.

The Department for Transport's best practice guidance urges taxi licensing authorities to facilitate the provision of these flexible services.
