To ask Her Majesty's Government what progress they have made in establishing viable alternatives to cheques.

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether a cost-benefit analysis on the phasing out of cheques has been undertaken by the Payments Council; and whether they will publish their findings.

The development of alternatives to the cheque, and the preparation of a cost benefit analysis, is a matter for the Payments Council, which is independent of government.
