To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether she plans to ask the Migration Advisory Committee to conduct an assessment of the potential effects on the economy of her proposed reforms to the student immigration route.

The Secretary of State for the Home Department announced the Government's plans to reform the student immigration system on 22 March 2011, Hansard, columns 855-72. We have no plans to ask the Migration Advisory Committee to assess the potential effects on the economy. An impact assessment will be published in due course.
