Defence written question – answered at on 28 March 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will amend his Department's guidance on the wearing of the NATO/International Security Assistance Force medal for operational service in Afghanistan by service personnel who have been awarded the Operational Service Medal for service in Afghanistan; and if he will make a statement.
A review of the rules governing the award of medals has considered the principles underpinning the award of medals. In doing so, appropriate consideration has been given to the 'double medal' rule and the principles regarding the award of foreign medals, including the NATO ISAF medal.
