To ask the Secretary of State for Education what the cost to the public purse was of the (a) procurement and (b) outsourcing function of (i) his Department and (ii) each (A) non-departmental public body and (B) non-ministerial Department for which he is responsible in the last financial year for which figures are available.

The costs of the procurement function in the Department and the non-departmental public bodies are presented in the following table. In all cases there is no separate outsourcing function. The cost of administering outsourcing arrangements is included within the procurement functions of those organisations.
