To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what assessment he has made of the likely contribution of the renewable heat incentive to reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
We have calculated that the Renewable Heat Incentive, the first scheme of its kind in the world, will achieve cumulative carbon dioxide savings of 44 million tonnes of carbon dioxide by 2020, equivalent to the annual emissions from 20 new gas-fired power stations.
