To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many applications for enforcement orders in respect of contact orders under section 8 of the Children Act 1989 were granted to parents in 2009.
There was a total of 42 enforcement orders made in respect of contact orders in the county courts and family proceedings courts of England and Wales, in 2009. However, information about to which party contact orders are issued is not held centrally.

Paragraph 5.35 of the Norgrove interim report (31/3/11) states that
"In 2010 there were nearly 1000 applications for enforcement orders in respect of contact orders. In the same year, only 55 orders were made. Over the same period, there were 13 applications for financial compensation, with only four orders made."
