To ask Her Majesty's Government whether any of their recommended flu vaccines contain thimerosal.

None of the trivalent seasonal influenza vaccines available for use in the 2010-11 influenza season contain thiomersal as an added preservative. However, Fluvirin contains traces of thiomersal that are left over from the manufacturing process.

Pandemrix, which protects against the H1N1 influenza strain, contains a small amount of thiomersal.

There is no evidence to suggest that exposure to the small levels of thiomersal contained in these influenza vaccines carries any risks to adults or children.
