To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what recent estimate he has made of the number of (a) homes and (b) households.
There were an estimated 22.7 million homes in England in March 2010.
The most recent estimate currently available for the number of households is for 2009-10, based on data from the English Housing Survey: there were an estimated 21.6 million households in England in 2009-10.
