To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government whether the promotion of private sector provision of specialist housing for older people is part of the Government's housing strategy.

We are putting in place a framework that will promote greater investment in housing, including both general needs housing and specialised provision, such as housing for older people. This will rebalance power from central Government to local authorities and local people so that they can shape development in their areas. It will replace top down targets with fiscal incentives for local authorities to promote development, and it will support private sector growth by reducing regulation on house-builders.
