To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what plans he has for the availability of legal aid to applicants for asylum.

The Government are currently consulting on proposals to reform legal aid. We propose to continue to provide publicly funded legal assistance in asylum cases (except asylum support cases). The consultation will close on 14 February.
