To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many passport applications have been received by the regional passport processing centre in Hong Kong in the last six months; and what the average time between application and issue was.

The regional passport processing centre in Hong Kong received 13,058 applications between 1 August 2010 and 31 January 2011. We do not record the average time between application and issue. However, 95% of these applications were processed and dispatched back to the customer within 10 working days of the application's arrival at the passport centre. Our advertised time from receipt of applications to delivery to the customer is four weeks for renewals and six weeks for first time applications.
