To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to assign a role to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence in the provision of advice to pharmaceutical companies.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) currently offers a scientific advice service to pharmaceutical companies and device manufacturers about products they have in development and we expect this work to continue. NICE charges a fee for its scientific advice.
