To ask the Secretary of State for Health
(1) what recent discussions he has had with stakeholder organisations on the potential effects of the (a) Higher Education (Basic Amount) (England) Regulations 2010 and (b) Higher Education (Higher Amount) (England) Regulations 2010 on the NHS Bursary Scheme; and if he will make a statement;
(2) what recent discussions he has had with the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills on the NHS Bursary Scheme; and if he will make a statement.
The Secretary of State for Health has had discussions with the Minister of State for Universities and Science and my officials have met with stakeholder organisations about the proposed changes to the funding arrangements for undergraduate education and the impact on students who are eligible for an NHS bursary. We will continue to work together with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills to understand the impact of the changes and consider if the NHS bursary scheme arrangements remain appropriate.
