To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office pursuant to the answer of 19 January 2011, Official Report, column 828, on public bodies, what steps he plans to take to make the code for public bodies watertight.

The Public Administration Select Committee in their report "Smaller Government: Shrinking the Quango State" make a number of recommendations on strengthening the rules relating to public bodies and lobbying. We will respond formally to the committee's recommendations, setting out our proposals in full, in due course.
