To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what recent discussions she has had on global food security; and if she will make a statement.

Last week I spoke at the launch of Sir John Beddington's Foresight report on global food security. The report is clear that with almost one billion people hungry and significant environmental degradation business as usual is not sustainable.

The UK Government are determined to show international leadership on this issue. We are committed to international development and better functioning global markets, along with improving agriculture productivity. These are critical issues for CAP reform and the G20 this summer.
