To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the statement by Earl Howe on 10 January concerning infected blood (HL Deb, cols 1229-32), how many of those infected through NHS blood and blood products they expect to receive counselling under the three-year programme.

All those affected by National Health Service supplied blood and blood products will be eligible to apply for this counselling. There is no information available on the number of individuals who might want to access this counselling. Therefore it will not be possible to ascertain how many people might receive counselling until the arrangements have been put in place. Once arrangements are in place, officials will seek information regularly about take up.
