To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans they have to provide funding for free book schemes.

The Government are determined to ensure that reading for pleasure is a gift every child can enjoy. Although the current programme which contributes to the Booktrust bookgifting schemes will end in March 2011, the Department for Education is talking to Booktrust about developing a new programme which will ensure that every child can enjoy the gift of books at crucial moments in their lives.
