To ask Her Majesty's Government, in the event that the Sudanese referendum on 9 January results in the formation of North and South Sudan as two separate countries, what assessment they have made of the funding commitments required to support both countries.

The Department for International Development (DfID) currently provides £140 million of bilateral support a year across north and south Sudan. Our future support will be determined by the bilateral aid review which is currently underway. Whatever the outcome of the referendum, there will continue to be significant humanitarian and development needs in both North and South Sudan during 2011-12.
