Transport written question – answered at on 20 January 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will assess the adequacy of training offered to rail staff to support disabled passengers.
The training of rail staff is a matter for train operators: not the Department for Transport. However, the Department does require that all staff receive relevant disability awareness training as part of an operator's Disabled People's Protection Policy, which is a condition of their operating licence.
