My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister has spoken to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and offered UK assistance should it be required. Despite the scale of the floods, her advice was that they did not need international support at this stage.

Officials at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in coordination with Whitehall Departments, are actively engaged with the Australian authorities on what assistance the UK may be able to provide.
