As the Secretary of State for Justice informed the House on 15 November 2010, Hansard, column 659, the Government have now published the consultation paper, 'Proposals for Reform of Civil Litigation Funding and Costs: Implementation of Lord Justice Jackson's Recommendations'. The Government accept Lord Justice Jackson's assessment that the costs of civil litigation are too high and that the current arrangements impact disproportionately on defendants. Preliminary impact assessments were published alongside the consultation paper, available at:

www.justice.gov.uk

A final impact assessment will be published alongside the Government response next spring.
