To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the government of Israel regarding the capacity of the Karni crossing point; and what prospects there are of this operating six days out of seven, as suggested by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.

The Minister of State for International Development, the right honourable Alan Duncan MP, raised Gaza access with Israeli Ministers during his recent visit to the region. He pressed for full implementation of the measures announced in June to ease movement and access restrictions. In August, senior officials from the Department for International Development (DFID) discussed the capacity of crossings into Gaza, including that of Karni, with General Dangot, the Co-ordinator for Government Activities in the Territories. We co-ordinate closely with the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) over Gaza and will continue to support its representations to the Israeli authorities as necessary.
