House of Lords written question – answered on 24th November 2010.
To ask Her Majesty's Government, further to the Written Answer by Lord Henley on 9 November (WA 54-5), why the Home Office purchases no United Kingdom pork.
The third report on the proportion of domestically produced food procured by government was published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in February this year. It referred to the financial year 2008-09 and provided a figure of nil per cent for the procurement of UK pork by the HO (HQ). The figure for the purchase of United Kingdom pork for the Home Office headquarters has risen to 100 per cent in the current financial year.
