To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will ensure that any change to the Lisbon Treaty to accommodate enhanced European Union economic governance will be ratified by Parliament only after primary legislation has been introduced and given adequate time for consideration by both Houses.

Under the terms of the EU Bill introduced into Parliament on 11 November, the ratification of any treaty change under the ordinary or simplified revision procedures will require an Act of Parliament. Our intention is to use the mechanisms in the EU Bill for any future treaty changes.
