To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what recent representations he has received on the development of an international airport on the Hoo Peninsula, Medway.

None directly, although we have received several letters about possible airport development in and around the Thames Estuary. The Department has no plans for a new airport in the Thames Estuary, nor any other part of Medway or Kent.

Our priority is to get the most out of existing airport infrastructure in the South East, which is why I am chairing the taskforce announced by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State in his written ministerial statement on 15 June 2010, Hansard, column 48WS, to improve operations at the major South East airports.
