To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many applications for the Apple iPhone his Department has commissioned each company to create; and at what cost to the public purse those applications were created.

The only application for the Apple iPhone commissioned by the Department for Transport and agencies is one launched by the Highways Agency in February 2010. It provides traffic information and breaking news alerts, and was developed by the companies Rufus Leonard and AIM at a cost of £29,050.

Secretary of State

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
