As announced by the Prime Minister on 19 October 2010, Hansard, column 797, as part of the strategic defence and security review, the Government have decided to accelerate the re-basing of 20,000 military personnel in Germany with aim to returning half of those personnel to the UK by 2015 and the remainder by 2020.

Detailed work is now under way to consider how this will be implemented, and reinstatement of facilities will form an important part of this planning. At this stage it is not possible to provide an accurate estimate of likely reinstatement costs.
