We support the work of civil society organisations in Indonesia working to promote religious freedom and counter-extremism. We have contributed funds to a variety of projects including: to help strengthen the capacity of institutions to foster tolerance, mutual understanding, moderation, violence reduction and de-radicalisation; capacity building for religious leaders; and engaging radical Muslim communities in the promotion of human rights in Indonesia.
In July, my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Jeremy Browne, highlighted the emphasis the UK places on counter radicalisation at a post-Friday prayers discussion at the Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah in Jakarta. We will continue to call for religious tolerance across Indonesia.
