Business, Innovation and Skills written question – answered at on 14 September 2010.
To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills how many paid officials in (a) his Department and its agencies and (b) non-departmental public bodies within his Department's area of responsibility are full-time trade union officials; what the total annual remuneration is for each such official; and if he will make a statement.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills currently employs 3.0 full-time departmental trade union side officers at an approximate total cost of £90,000 per annum.
The Department's agencies Companies House, Insolvency Service, Skills Funding Agency, IPO and NMO will be responding separately to this question.
We do not centrally hold records on trade union officials employed by the non-departmental public bodies. The compilation of this information would be at a disproportionate cost.
